Moto/Hybrid AIARE 1 Avalanche Safety

LEARN. PRACTICE. STAY ALIVE.

Join Powder Pro Labs for a motorized/hybrid access AIARE 1 avalanche course. The course and curriculum will be delivered as a hybrid motorized/touring access model that will expand upon the learning outcomes as they relate to the various modes of travel. Utilizing additional key takeaways that are categorized for mechanized and non-mechanized, this format will aid in discussions and exercises that relate to specific learning outcomes for planning and traveling through avalanche terrain on both machines and human-powered equipment as a group.

Develop skills in group planning, creating achievable objectives and the fundamentals of accessing your favorite skiing or snowboarding lines and areas with the use of motorized equipment. Learn the components of ascending & descending with the facilitation of a snowmobile. Learn how to move your group and machines through the terrain with established trip plans that include moto specific areas, ski/ splitboard routes, designated safe zones for group check-ins and emergency situations.

This course is run and operated through Powder Pro Lab. Powder Pro Lab is an equal opportunity service provider operating by Special Use Permit in the San Isabel National Forest.

Based out of their outdoor education facility located in downtown Leadville, Colorado, PPL is equipped to offer classroom instruction and motorized guided experiential learning in the surrounding High Rockies of the San Isabel National Forest.

PPL has designed the perfect course for avalanche training specific to your needs as a sledder and shredder. Powder Pro Lab has brought its motorized expertise to the table in this rare opportunity to learn from the long standing avalanche pros at CAG and progress your motorized skills, knowledge and terrain management. Classroom Sessions

Day 1 will be split into 2 evening Zoom Based Classroom Sessions 6:00pm–9:00pm for Feb course and will be a full-day in-person classroom on March course

Day 2
Field Session

7:30am – 3:30pm : Companion Rescue and Making Relevant Observations.

Day 3
Field Application

7:30am – 4:00pm : Student Led Tour and Course Close

Prerequisites

All students in this hybrid/motorized access course must have their own snowmobile and touring equipment and be competent in the use of both modes of travel.
