A custom run means you can focus solely on running without worrying about missing a turn. You can be sure you’ll see the best trails Summit County has to offer. Your run begins with a consultation with your guide to determine what you want out of your run, using our scale of difficulty for reference. Your guide will then plan a run specific to your needs and run with you, managing safety concerns, offering education, and taking great photos. We especially love helping runners train for their next big goal, and a custom run here at altitude is a great way to prepare for your upcoming mountain race or 100-miler. A custom guided run is also a unique way to get an active, personalized tour of spectacular trails even if you’re not training for a particular race. Come let us show you around our wonderful local trails!

Notes on Difficulty Scale: Colorado Adventure Guides developed this scale to clearly communicate with guests as we plan guided runs together. The average duration of each level of run is exactly that: an average. While most runners complete a given run within the average duration specified, some runners may take more or less time, depending on fitness.
Level | Average Duration | Elevation Gain | Notes |
1 | about 1 hour | 1000 feet or less | Wednesday’s Guided Group Run |
2 | About 2 hours | Up to 1500 feet | Saturday’s Guided Group Run |
3 | Half-day run, around 3 hours for most runners | Up to 3000 feet
4 | Full-day run, 4-6 hours for most runners | Up to 5000 feet
5 | More than 6 hours | No max elevation gain | *call for availability* |
