Backcountry Skiing

BACKCOUNTRY SKI / SPLITBOARD

Our Backcountry Ski/Splitboarding 101 Clinics will introduce skiers and riders to backcountry equipment and available resources. We will define what the backcountry is and take a look at the specialized equipment that is necessary to use while traveling in the snowy mountains. Screen reader support enabled.

WINTER HUT TRIPPING 101 CLINIC

Join us on a Hut Trip 101 Clinic to learn the basics about using a backcountry hut in the winter. From tour planning to food and gear planning we will be covering a wide array of topics that involve your hut adventures.

AVY 101 CLINIC

In this 1.5 hour clinic you will learn about the resources used to make smart decisions in the backcountry. We will talk about the gear, using the forecast, and avenues for backcountry education. We will also end the clinic with an update of the current state of the snowpack.

SLAY AT HOME SERIES

The Slay At Home Speaker Series Returns! Colorado Adventure Guides has partnered with Weston Backcountry on this weekly series. Every week you will find an engaging backcountry topic taught by professional guides, the trusty Weston Crew and special guest panelists from Colorado Adventure Guides Pat Gephart and Justin Ibarra. BC Snowboard

BACKCOUNTRY TERRAIN MANAGEMENT

Part of the ORTOVOX Avalanche Nights Series, this clinic is focused on terrain and travel risk management for backcountry riding. We will be using the ORTOVOX Safety Academy Mountain (SAM) 3D model. Combined with a short PP presentation. We will use the model to learn and practice how to recognize and avoid avalanche terrain and conditions.
