AIARE Level 1 Course
Our 3-Day AIARE Level 1 Avalanche Course blends online learning, classroom sessions, and two full field days led by certified instructors with deep local knowledge.
You’ll get hands-on experience with:
Equipment: How to use your beacon, shovel, and probe efficiently, plus what survival gear to pack.
Weather & Snowpack: How to interpret avalanche forecasts and understand Colorado’s tricky snow conditions.
Trip Planning: How to choose routes, plan objectives, and manage your group in real terrain.
Hazards & Rescue: How to recognize warning signs, manage risk, and perform a companion rescue.
All students can use complimentary Ortovox avalanche gear (beacon, shovel, probe, pack) and receive a course manual, field book, and certificate of completion.
Intro to Backcountry Ski/Splitboard Course ($220 value)
This one-day winter adventure is the perfect introduction for skiers and splitboarders ready to explore beyond the resort.
You’ll get hands-on experience with touring equipment, transitions, and avalanche safety gear, plus an intro to trip planning, backcountry navigation, and uphill movement techniques.
Led by local, experienced guides, the 8-hour course keeps a maximum 6:1 student-to-instructor ratio, with discounted rental gear and transportation to the trailhead included. Your backcountry journey starts here!
AIARE Rescue Course ($240 value)
This one-day (8-hour) course is for both new and experienced backcountry travelers. New participants learn the full companion rescue process, while returning students refine skills through advanced topics and realistic scenarios. AIARE recommends refreshing rescue skills every other year—this course covers exactly what you need.
You’ll get professional coaching, hands-on practice, and a certificate of completion.
As an Ortovox Safety Academy partner, we provide complimentary Ortovox gear for the day—Diract Voice beacon, Beast shovel, ALU probe, and backpack.
Expect to learn what to do if someone is caught in an avalanche, run rescue scenarios, practice multiple-burial and advanced beacon skills, dial in your beacon/shovel/probe use, and complete essential pre-trip checks.
