    As an ORTOVOX Safety Academy Partner we are pleased to introduce our new “Risk Management in Avalanche Terrain and Tour Planning” Clinic, an in-person, interactive snow-safety course. We will be using the (SAM3D) model, a hands-on, interactive learning tool to graphically demonstrate risk management and tour planning. The SAM3D helps to clearly illustrate and better explain avalanche risk factors and their complex causality to beginners and advanced ski tourers alike. This clever mountain model fills the gap between theory and reality in the mountains and simulates the complexity of risk management and tour planning. The SAM3D educational tool can be used to playfully learn the basics of tour planning, focusing on risk identification and avalanche assessment. Part of Red Mountain Open Space, Salt Lick Trail offers a range of shorter and more accessible options for a casual snowshoe. This area is right out the back door from the CAG headquarters in Silverthorne, where you will shoeing minutes after your arrival. This series of trails pass through stands of lodgepole pine and aspen, where you are greeted with amazing views of Lake Dillon, the Continental Divide, and the surrounding areas. $90 - Price/Person Individuals encouraged, minimum trip size three people Minimum age for public trips is 12 years.     AIARE Rescue

    AIARE Rescue is appropriate for both new and experienced recreational backcountry travelers, as well as aspiring avalanche professionals. This one-day (8-hour) course is intended to be retaken on a regular basis. New participants will learn companion rescue, and returning students will expand their skills and knowledge with advanced topics and realistic scenario practice. AIARE recommends that all backcountry travelers keep their skills current by taking an Avalanche Rescue Course at least every other year. Each participant will receive professional coaching in rescue skills and will receive a certificate of completion at course end. The Rescue course is a prerequisite for the AIARE 2 and Pro 1 Courses.
